Use Your Influence to Prevent Pain

You are an influencer. I’m not just talking about social media. Although, it’s one way you can reach your community. When I say you are an influencer, I’m talking about your ability to influence your home, family, friends, and even the world.

We have the power to create tremendous change.

Our power is incredible, and it’s very, very real. The people you touch are connected to more people, so the power infrastructure extends from you and connects to other women, and together we are an entire neural network of change. It’s not isolated to you or your home; it’s the opposite.

Women make more than 80 percent of the healthcare decisions in this country. 80 percent, and that is really something special. Healthcare decisions are not just reactive; as many of us know, they can be preventative.

Health Care is Total Care

A friend of mine that greatly inspires me, Dr. Juliana Hauser holds the philosophy that health care is not just disease care; it’s total body care. It’s prevention. It’s how the heart is central to all health. The interconnectivity we talk so much about on this site. Everything is connected. So, of course, your power is related to your health and the health of the people that you touch. Dr. Hauser believes that we are just starting to scratch the surface of our power. “Women have no concept as to their power in general. That’s right, OK, health care, that’s just a little bit. But my gosh, when you think about the power of women, especially in the past couple of years, it’s amazing and so incredibly cool.” It is very cool, and it starts with you.

Time for medicine to catch up with the modern woman

Did you know that many studies on various medical conditions have never been done on women? Time for that to change. One huge area where this was the case is cardiovascular health. Nearly every study was done on a segment of men and applied across all populations. Is that why people thought there was no heart disease? Those results can not be accepted widely across all demographics; we are 51 percent of the population. More women die of heart disease than all different kinds of cancer combined.

If we want something, we need to ask for it. We have to ask for what we want and are entitled to. No sitting back and staying quiet. Our voices are essential, and together we can speak up and create the necessary change we wish to see in the world.

The best of healthcare is yet to come and together we can make a difference. Members can learn more about becoming part of the change. Sign up and log in for more.
